Message from the President
Dear Fellow Members and Friends:
During the past seven years we have come a long
way and accomplished many good things for our
members and for our Hispanic community.
Focusing in creating a marketing machine to
promote our businesses and to keep the public
informed through our web page and e-mails has
helped us get closer to our members and the
community. Using referral clubs, missions,
monthly business card exchanges, luncheons and
other tools while making sure that our family
values as well as our culture were never put in
second place has identified this chamber as a
unique one in South Florida. Having the
opportunity to be the main sponsor and working
together with The Puerto Rican Fiestas Patronales
and Business Expo was essential for our growth in
such a short time and has allowed us to reach out
to places we never thought possible.
Celebrating events that have brought us visitors
from New York, San Francisco, Texas, Chicago,
Puerto Rico, and even Korea, has made us a chamber
that reaches internationally. With events such as
our annual Shining Star Award Gala we have not
only given recognition to our Community Leaders,
TV and Radio Personalities, Business Executives
and Entrepreneurs, but we have also pointed
to good role models to follow for civic and
cultural values.
We can add that we have also dedicated special
events to honoring distinguished public figures
such as: Orlando Cepeda, Hall of Fame Baseball
Player and immortal musicians and singers like
Tito Puente, Hector LaVoe, Ismael Rivera and La
Lupe. We have also made dedications to the
men and women that defend our country in the armed
forces in their respective disciplines. With
all this me have made sure that this chamber is
one that not only promote business but also
culture, unity, diversity, inclusion and civic
responsibility.
Our efforts have made us recipient of various
recognitions, including proclamations from the
House of Representatives and the Senate of the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; a dedicated week to
honor the Puerto Rican Community in Broward
County; and the celebration in Broward County of
the 50th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Puerto
Rico.
The most recent recognition to our work and
efforts came in the form of a Proclamation
requested by County Commissioner Diana Wasserman,
where it is stated that…
December Ninth henceforth will be held in honor
as “Mr. Frank Nieves and the Puerto Rican Chamber
of Commerce of Broward County Appreciation Day”
by order of the Board of County
Commissioners of Broward County, Florida.
This proclamation also stated that, over the
course of the last four (4) years, PR Fiestas
Patronales & Business Expo has exceeded over
100,000 attendees. The Puerto Rico Fiestas
Patronales has grown to become the largest Puerto
Rican musical, cultural and Business Expo in
Florida, as well as the largest Hispanic event in
Broward County. Additionally, we have
partnered with the Broward Center for the
Performing Arts to help promote and recognize
artists like Yolandita Monge, Sully Diaz,
worldwide known salsa orchestra “El Gran Combo de
Puerto Rico”, salsa singer and musician Willie
Colon, the famous play “Pedro Navaja” and many
others. Achievements such as these could
have never been possible without the hard work of
the chamber’s Board of Directors and the special
assistance of Santos Arroyo.
Now as we look at 2007 we are committed to grow.
With the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber in Palm
Beach County, presided by Santos Arroyo and
a newly formed board of Directors. Also
with the St. Lucie County Chamber, presided by
Roberto Roldan. The partnership with Fiestas
Patronales has worked so well that PR Fiestas
Patronales is expanding to the Palm Beach, St.
Lucie and Orange Counties.
Our calendar of events for 2007 is, by far, the
most aggressive one that we have ever put
together. In addition to our monthly card
exchange we will be conducting monthly luncheons,
educational seminars, a business mission to Puerto
Rico and our first annual convention. Many
of these events will also be held throughout the
various counties now covered by our chapters.
With the expansion and this calendar of events we
are taking the chamber to the next level, one that
not many chambers have been able to reach in
Florida.
Additionally, we will be focusing in how to help
our member expose their products and services to
the Hispanic Community using our marketing
experience and the various products created for
this purpose such as our newly renovated web page.
Some marketing packages are done, many new ones
are been created and some will be tailored made to
the needs of our members. Something that you can
be sure of is that we will do our very best to
help our members to increase their profits, grow
their business and help them with their branding
to the Hispanic Community.
This is a great opportunity for small businesses
to join one of the most active chambers in Broward
County, expand their network and increase business
profitability while we save them money by using
special offers that typically larger chambers
offer at very high prices. For more
information please contact the Chamber or one of
our directors.
We look forward to working with you and helping
cultivate your business during 2007.
Cordially yours,
Frank Nieves
